About this spot

From Bend, head north on Highway 97 toward Madras until directional signage points you toward Cove Palisades State Park. Follow posted markers to reach Lake Billy Chinook. Continue along the main shoreline road and cross the initial bridge to the boat launch area on the Deschutes Arm. You have the option to launch a boat here for water access to the cliff, or proceed driving to a second bridge spanning the lake. The cliff sits further upstream. Land-based access requires walking along the river beyond the second bridge and then swimming across the water. Boat access is considerably more convenient than the terrestrial route.

Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
