About this spot

Travel north on Highway 30 from Lanai on Maui's western shore, then turn left onto Kaanapali Parkway, which passes through the resort district. Park near the end of this road and proceed toward the ocean and Kaanapali Beach. This beach has received recognition as one of Hawaii's finest and is popularly known as The Beautiful People Beach. Head right along the shoreline when facing the water until you reach the northern end, where Black Rock protrudes as the jumping location. Wear footwear since the rock formation consists of sharp volcanic material. Tiki torches mark the path to the jump site. After jumping, there's an exit route beneath the jump area, though this becomes challenging during rough sea conditions. Beyond cliff jumping, the location offers opportunities for swimming and relaxation, plus entertainment options at nearby resort establishments.

Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
