About this spot

This upstate New York location features a small rocky inlet on the eastern shore of a lake, shaped like a U with the tallest section at the back. Multiple jump options line both sides, ranging from 5 feet to approximately 50 feet at the rear. The water depth reaches around 160 feet, eliminating any risk of striking bottom. Access is possible via two routes. Boaters can launch from Lake George village or Dunham's Bay, then travel north along the east shore for several miles to locate the site. For hikers, begin at Lake George village and take Route 9L toward Dunham's Bay, turning left onto Pilot Knob Road. Follow this road to its terminus at the Fort Ann town beach. Beyond this point lies private property, so park at the beach and continue on foot along the road, then turn right onto the first side road. Walk this to its end where a house stands and forest begins. A woodland path provides easier navigation from here. Stay close to the waterline to avoid missing the cliffs by wandering inland. The hike typically takes 30-35 minutes from the parking area.

Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
