About this spot

From exit 30 on NYS87 (Lake Placid/Keene), follow RT 73 to 9N heading toward Upper Jay, passing a Stewart's convenience store on the left. Continue on 9N until reaching RT86 near Upper Jay, then turn left on 86 toward Wilmington. After the bridge crossing the Ausable River, turn left at the fork and proceed past commercial buildings to reach the bridge. Park on the right side near the bridge or on the left side just before it, with the river on your left. Two primary jump zones are available at this location. One sits directly across from the road adjacent to a waterfall. The other is road-accessible but limited to the initial 10-foot section of the cliff face; other spots along this stretch contain submerged rocks. Local residents may be able to direct you to a third jumping area upstream from the waterfall within a narrow canyon section, positioned well before the main bridge.

Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
