About this spot

Accessing from the north requires taking Route 5 south to Route 138 east from Portland, Route 138 east from Roseburg, or Route 97 south to Route 138 west from Bend, all leading to the park's northern entrance. Note that this entrance typically remains closed between mid-October and mid-June. Southern access is available via Route 62 north and east from Medford to the western entrance, or Route 97 north to Route 62 north and west from Klamath Falls to the southern entrance. Once at the location, drive along the rim to find the site providing direct access downward to the water. A foot path with switchbacks descends approximately 800 feet to a viewpoint overlook. Wizard Island should be visible in the distance ahead. The water temperature is notably cold. As this is a National Park, visitors must pack out all trash to maintain the lake's condition.

Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
