About this spot
This route works well for visitors coming from Portland's south side and the northern Willamette Valley. Head east on HWY 26 toward Mt. Hood, passing through Government Camp before continuing toward Warm Springs and Bend. Upon entering the Warm Springs Indian Reservation, take a left onto HWY 216 marked for Maupin and Bear Springs. Follow HWY 216 for approximately 30 miles until reaching HWY 197, then turn right and drive 2 miles into Maupin. After crossing the river through town, travel north about 10 miles to Sherars Falls, then continue north another 5 to 10 miles. A river bend curves from east to west at a small campground in the area. The cliff formations are positioned on the north side of the river.
Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
