About this spot
Mitchell Branch Falls is a 39-foot waterfall in the Ouachita National Forest between Waldron and Danville, reached by an easy-to-moderate 0.6-mile hike; Tim Ernst's Arkansas Waterfalls guidebook calls it one of the prettiest falls in the Ouachitas. At least one visitor account describes a swimming hole along the trail below the main falls, though that claim isn't yet corroborated by a second independent source. Flow varies with rainfall. No fees; forest-road access. Treat the swimming-hole claim as unconfirmed and check current water depth and rock stability before jumping.
Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
