About this spot
Natural Dam is an 8-foot-high, roughly 200-foot-wide natural stone ledge spanning Mountain Fork Creek in the Ozark National Forest, reachable by a short walk from a free gravel roadside lot on Natural Dam Road — no hiking required. It's one of Arkansas's most-visited swimming holes, with a pebble-bottom pool above the dam suited to both casual waders and stronger swimmers, and seasonal cascades forming along the ledge after rain. Multiple independent travel guides document its swimming culture, though jumping or diving off the rock ledge is explicitly discouraged due to shallow spots and submerged rock below. Day-use only, no fee, closes at dark, no camping. Legal and easy to reach; check current flow and depth before entering.
Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
