About this spot

Head south on Highway 49 from Auburn for about 3 miles to reach the spot where the north and middle forks of the American River meet. The No Hands Bridge sits roughly a quarter mile downstream from this confluence. Park on the west side of Highway 49 on the El Dorado County side of the highway confluence bridge for free parking; other locations require a $10 fee. From this vantage point, you can see multiple structures including the Foresthill Bridge, California's tallest bridge and the fourth highest in the United States. Additionally, another bridge crossing the south fork on Old Foresthill Road is visible from the confluence area. Among all the bridges in view, No Hands appears to be the only one considered safe for jumping, though activity there was uncommon until recently.

Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
