About this spot
Head south on CA-55 toward Newport Beach for 8.6 miles, then continue onto CA-73 S toward San Diego via the toll road for 2.8 miles. Merge onto MacArthur Boulevard heading toward Newport Beach for 3.1 miles, then turn left onto East Coast Highway/CA-1 for 1.0 mile. Turn right onto Orchid Avenue and park on nearby residential streets, which are generally uncrowded during off-season periods. A steep sandy hill descends to the beach. From there, walk approximately half a mile south along rocks to reach this location. Multiple jump spots exist in the area, but this one offers the most accessible and approachable conditions. A rope typically hangs from the rocks for climbing, though free-climbing is manageable if the rope is absent. The southern portion of the rock formation provides the best jumping platform, with adequate water depth. Wear closed-toe shoes due to sharp rocks throughout the area. Timing with tidal cycles is critical—arrive at low tide and depart afterward to maintain safe access and exit routes. The beach walk to the site passes through rocky terrain and tidal pools, making footwear essential rather than sandals. The beach serves as the only viable path, as cliffsides prevent alternative routes and residential areas restrict pedestrian access. Park near where Orchid Avenue reaches the ocean or one to two blocks south of that intersection.
