About this spot

A long-established high desert location that has attracted visitors for years. The water maintains temperatures around 80 degrees, and primary jumps range from 35 to 45 feet with an expansive landing zone. A horizontal tree limb extends from the highest jump point, which some use for cherry drop maneuvers. From Los Angeles, travel north on I-15 to Hesperia, exit at Main Street and turn right. Continue through town to Rock Springs Road, turn left, cross the Mojave riverbed, then right onto Deep Creek Road. Follow to the end of the pavement where multiple dirt roads branch out. The dam spillway is visible to the left. Head toward that area to park, then hike straight up the spillway. At the top, the Pacific Crest Trail trailhead appears on your left. Continue hiking as the path switchbacks along the north side of the creek. After roughly a mile and a half, a small brick structure resembling an outhouse appears on your right. Take any downhill trails branching to the right after this point (the third option is typically most direct). You'll reach a sunning area with a 15-foot jump across from the main rock face. Alternatively, take I-15 North to CA-138 and head right toward Silverwood Lake. After approximately 10 minutes, turn left onto CA-173 East, then after another 10 minutes, turn left onto Arrowhead Lake Road. Main parking is on the right at the dam entrance. The spillway access dirt roads are just beyond, though 4-wheel-drive is required and saves roughly half a mile of hiking.

Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
