About this spot

The Clam is a real, well-known cluster of sea cliffs in La Jolla where the coastline curves into a clamshell shape; jumps here range from a roughly 35-foot ledge called The Point up to the approximately 107-foot Dead Man's Cliff. The submitted pin sat about four miles north at a Torrey Pines beach parking area; corrected coordinates place it on the actual limestone point off Coast Boulevard, confirmed by satellite imagery. Despite a century of jumping tradition here, San Diego law now bans jumping more than 5 feet into the ocean citywide, and lifeguards and police actively patrol and cite jumpers at this exact location. Expect crowds, submerged rock at low tide, and real citation risk if caught jumping.

Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
