About this spot

This spot is in Hot Spring Canyon of Cleveland National Forest near Lake Elsinore, California -- the database had it mislabeled in Kansas City, Missouri, an unrelated data error. From Ortega Highway (74), follow Long Canyon Road/Main Divide Truck Trail to Blue Jay or Falcon Group Campground, then hike roughly a mile up-canyon on the Falcon Trail. The main pool is a rock-carved swimming hole about 12-15 feet deep below a two-tier waterfall, with jumps in the 12-50 foot range off surrounding ledges. Water is cold and shaded; flow and pool depth vary with recent rain. Beyond the first major fall the route becomes an unmaintained, genuinely dangerous scramble -- stop at the main pool. No fee for day use; first-come campground parking.

Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
