Drive south on Sunset Cliffs Boulevard for approximately 2 miles until you spot the ocean overlook parking areas, positioned roughly every 100 yards. Park at the third lot, situated in front of oceanfront residences. Warning signs about cliff-jumping penalties are visible in the area. This location is also known for surfing and fishing activities. You'll notice a distinctive rock formation on the left side and Ocean Beach Pier visible to the right. The arch formation tunnels completely through the sandstone and creates a suitable pool for snorkeling and diving, though monitor tidal surges. At high tide, the pool reaches just under 20 feet in depth, with 4 to 5 different jumping levels available. Winter months see reduced enforcement patrols, though officers occasionally monitor from nearby lots using binoculars. Exiting the water involves an easy climb. Items like jewelry, necklaces, and watches are frequently lost and discoverable underwater. A crowd of onlookers typically gathers within a couple of minutes.
