About this spot

Granite Gorge sits on the Kaweah River just inside Sequoia National Park, reached by a short unmarked trail dropping from Generals Highway roughly a quarter mile before the Foothills Visitor Center (park entrance fee required). Jump points reportedly range up to 70 feet above pools 30-40 feet deep, though the smooth granite gets notoriously slick, and landing zones narrow considerably at the higher ledges. Water runs cold and dangerously high during spring snowmelt; conditions are safest in late summer once flows drop and temperatures climb above 70°F. Two independent sources (a cliff-diving guide and a canyoneering trip-report site) describe this exact spot and its access route, but the listing's original coordinates land miles away in Giant Forest and have been corrected here — always scout current depth and flow before jumping.

Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
