About this spot

Head west on I-70 from Denver into the foothills. Exit at Saint Mary's Alice, just beyond Idaho Springs. Follow the exit road uphill for a couple miles until you spot a parking area on the left with multiple vehicles and hikers. A marked trail leads to the glacier—expect roughly an hour of hiking with some light scrambling involved. The terrain here features glacier melt, so anticipate extremely cold water year-round, even during summer months. At the trail's end, you'll reach a lake. The jumping rocks are positioned on the left side of the lake; traverse around the lake's left edge for the most accessible approach. The primary jump point stands at 32 feet and drops into approximately 15 feet of water. Weather conditions in this alpine location change rapidly, so monitor forecasts carefully before visiting. This represents one of the closest legitimate jumping locations to Denver.

Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
