About this spot

Located just beyond Idaho Springs, this site features a 32-foot jump into 15 feet of water. To access it, take I-70 westbound from Denver through the foothills and exit at Saint Mary's Alice just past Idaho Springs. Follow the exit road for a couple miles through winding terrain until you spot a small parking area with multiple vehicles and hikers on the left side. From there, an hour-long hike with some light scrambling leads to the glacier and alpine lake. The jump location sits on the left-side rocks at the lake's edge; approach by circling the water to the left for the most straightforward path to the jumping point. Water temperature remains extremely cold year-round due to glacier melt, so plan visits during warm weather only. Mountain weather is unpredictable and can change rapidly, so monitor conditions closely. This represents one of the closest legitimate jump sites to the Denver area.

Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
