About this spot
Paradise Cove, known locally as Guffey Gorge, is a granite-walled pool on West Fourmile Creek reached by roughly a one-mile trail from a BLM lot off County Road 112 southeast of Florissant; a $6 day-use fee applies from mid-May through September. Ledges from about 20 to over 80 feet ring the cove and see heavy cliff-jumping traffic all summer, documented by BLM's own site, local news, and outdoor blogs. Water depth and exposed rock shift with snowmelt and drought, so higher ledges carry real risk of striking bottom. There are no lifeguards, and officials report a dozen or more jumping injuries most seasons. Glass, alcohol, and campfires are prohibited on site.
