About this spot

Located in southeastern Colorado between Lamar and Springfield, this reservoir features jump options ranging from 10 to 65 feet, with water depth varying from 10 feet to significantly deeper areas. The site is situated in remote, arid terrain—hours away from visible water sources until you reach the red sandstone formations. Access via US 287 provides views of two distinctive buttes visible to the east past a windmill farm. Turn onto County Road B5 at the Two Buttes Wildlife Area sign and proceed down the dirt road approximately 3 miles. At a fork, bear right and continue to a small bridge. Parking and camping options exist both below the cliffs (left before the bridge) and above them (left after the bridge, with steeper descent required). Due to distance from the Front Range, plan for a multi-day visit. No camping fees or ranger presence reported. Water depth verification is essential before jumping, as conditions vary significantly and local accounts mention depths exceeding 25 feet in certain areas. The location tends to accumulate litter; visitors are encouraged to pack out all trash. Best suited for experienced jumpers due to variable conditions and the need to assess specific jump sites and water depth with local input.

Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
