About this spot
From New Haven, drive north on I-95 and exit at 74, then head south on Route 161 toward Niantic. Once you pass a small lake on your right, look for Roxbury Road and turn onto it. Continue on Roxbury Road for about a mile until you spot the landfill on your right side. Park in an available spot and proceed into the landfill property. The quarries are situated at the end of the landfill access road on the left side, near a water tower. A side road ascends a hill from the quarry area. Halfway up this hill road you'll encounter a smaller cliff approximately 20 feet high. If you continue further up toward the water tower, you'll reach the main cliff, which stands roughly 60 feet tall. Access is restricted to after 3:00 PM Monday through Saturday. On Sundays, you can visit at any time. Do not enter during landfill operating hours.
