About this spot

Starting from Mark Twain Library in Redding, CT, turn left onto the exit. Keep going through the intersection ahead. John Read Middle School will appear on your right side as you continue. You have the option to park at the school and walk approximately half a mile to reach the location, or drive further for closer parking. For the recommended route, stay on Route 53 heading north past the school until you spot two pulloff areas on the right side of the road. These appear just before the second hill and the first right-hand curve you'll encounter after the school. Once parked, cross the road and look for one of several established trails that lead down from the pavement to the cliff.

Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
