Ginnie Springs sits on the Santa Fe River about six miles from High Springs, Florida, inside a privately run park with a day-pass fee and hours from 8am to sunset. The main spring pool stays a constant 72F and its clarity has made it a magnet for snorkelers and cave divers as well as jumpers. Partway along the spring run, a rope swing and a large multi-limbed tree provide jumps of varying heights into the spring water, with lines forming on busy weekends. Depths near the swing run roughly 8-12 feet, but boils and cave openings elsewhere in the run can carry current, so stay in the marked swimming zone. Expect no lifeguards, big weekend crowds, and rules against glass and excessive alcohol.
