About this spot
The original pin, near Paia, sits in a beachfront residential neighborhood roughly 40km from the actual spot this description matches: Wai'anapanapa State Park on the Road to Hana, famous for its black sand beach and a Y-shaped offshore lava outcrop nicknamed "bunny ears," jumped from a lower ledge and the ~40ft pinnacle. It's reached via the marked park entrance, a paved lot, and a short walk down to the beach. The rock stands isolated in open ocean swell, so jumps require timing between wave sets and conditions can turn choppy fast. A day-use reservation is required to enter the park, and the lava rock underfoot is sharp.
Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
