About this spot
From Pocatello, head west on I-86 to exit 28, which is marked for Massacre Rocks State Park. Turn right onto Register Road and proceed through the toll gate. Continue right at the intersection and follow the winding road marked Route 15. The visitor center and campsites will appear on your left. Drive past the campsites to locate a parking area with a basketball court adjacent to the river. Look for the largest rock formation on your right when facing the water—it will have a small viewers sign at its peak. Hike past a few campsites to reach this formation, then descend the opposite side to the river's edge. The primary jump reaches approximately 40 feet above the water. Before jumping, wade out until you lose footing to confirm adequate depth. Additional lower jumps ranging from 10 to 30 feet can be found to the right. Access requires moderate hiking and scrambling over boulders. The location suits those new to cliff jumping. Be aware of park rangers and watercraft traffic in the area. The water temperature is notably cold.
