About this spot
From Pocatello, head west on I-86 to exit 28 at Massacre Rocks State Park. Turn right onto Register Road and proceed through the toll station, then turn right again. Continue along the winding road marked for route 15. The visitors center and campsites appear on your left. Drive past the camping areas until you locate a parking area with a basketball court adjacent to the river. From this point, identify the largest rock formation on your right when facing the water—a small viewers sign marks its summit. Trek past a few campsites toward this formation, then descend the far side to reach the riverbank. The primary jump reaches approximately 40 feet high. The water is chilly; swim out until your feet no longer touch bottom to gauge whether jumping is safe. Additional jumping options exist on rocks to the right, ranging from 10 to 30 feet. This location suits those new to cliff jumping, though it requires some hiking and scrambling over boulders. Be mindful of park rangers and boaters in the area.
