About this spot
Eagle Falls drops 44 feet where Eagle Creek meets the Cumberland River in Cumberland Falls State Resort Park, reached by a moderately strenuous 2-2.5 mile hike on Trail 9 off KY-90. Hikers who make the climb are rewarded with a swimming hole at the base where the creek flows into the river, and the trail also delivers some of the best overlook views of Cumberland Falls itself. The rocky landing below the main drop and the current where it meets the river are the real hazards; this is a base-pool swim spot, not a spot to jump the falls itself. No fees beyond park access; no lifeguards, swim at your own risk.
Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
