About this spot
Big Spring Falls is a two-drop waterfall in the Big South Fork National River & Recreation Area (McCreary County, KY), reached by a strenuous ~7.7-mile hike from Blue Heron. Satellite imagery shows the GPS coordinate published by kywaterfalls.com sitting right at a tributary's confluence with the Big South Fork river, whereas the existing pin sits in forest roughly 0.3 miles away with no visible water feature — a corrected coordinate is proposed. No swimming/jumping reports were found; it's remote and rarely visited.
Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
