About this spot

Located at the Loch Raven Reservoir in the Timonium area near Baltimore, this spot features rock formations with drop heights between 10 and 40 feet. The specific entry points lack signage, so newcomers without a guide may need to experiment finding them. The reservoir offers tranquil, transparent conditions ideal for swimming. Across the water from the main cliffs, rope swings are available. Park rangers patrol the water by boat and will issue citations if they encounter swimmers, so stay alert to their presence. Access via Exit 28 (Providence Road heading north) off I-695 on the north side of the Beltway. Continue on Providence Road approximately 3 miles until reaching a T-intersection with Loch Raven Drive. Turn left and travel roughly 2 miles until crossing the reservoir bridge. On the far side, a beach appears to the left with a mountain biking trail entrance on the right. Free roadside parking is typically available during most times and days, often with other visitors present. Follow the trail uphill for about half a mile until spotting a secondary path marked with a "No Trespassing" sign. Turn right at this marker and descend approximately 50 yards to reach the rocks and water. A short rock scramble of a few feet provides access to the jump locations. Patrol activity makes discretion advisable at this location.

Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
