About this spot
This flooded 1940s-era granite quarry, now part of the Becket Land Trust's Historic Quarry and Forest, has cliffs ranging from about 10 to 80 feet over water reportedly as deep as 200 feet in spots. Park at the trailhead off Quarry Road (an oval turnaround marked by the historic Becket sign) and walk 5-10 minutes in; the quarry sits just off the main path. Cliff diving and swimming are officially prohibited by the land trust — the water has zero visibility and hides submerged equipment and downed trees, rescue access is limited, and at least one drowning has been documented. People still jump here regularly; going means accepting real, undocumented-by-you-until-too-late hazards.
Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
