About this spot

From Boston, head west on the Mass Pike to Exit 2. Follow directions toward Great Barrington and the Berkshires region. Once in Great Barrington's downtown area, turn right and follow signs for Route 41 north. Continue on Route 41 for approximately 10 minutes until you locate East Alford Road on your left, then turn onto it. Drive past the bridge, and after the road curves left, you'll find parking available on the left side of the road. Return on foot across the bridge to locate a trail entrance. Walk the trail for roughly 10 minutes until reaching a junction where you can proceed left or continue straight; bear left at this point. You'll need to ford two streams during your hike. After ascending from the second stream crossing, a notable 150-foot vertical rock formation becomes visible. Continue climbing over the ridge, and the quarry site will appear unmistakably.

Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
