Cataract Falls is a 50 ft shelf falls on the Rocky Mountain Front in Lewis and Clark National Forest, about 40 miles west of Augusta via Elk Creek Road. The Elk Creek Trailhead hike is only about 0.5 mi round-trip with three creek crossings, making it an easy, family-friendly outing. Guides describe it for sightseeing, photography, hiking, fishing, and winter ice climbing, but no source mentions swimming or jumping at the falls or its pool.
