About this spot
This stretch of the Blackfoot River lies along the Lower Blackfoot River Recreation Corridor on Highway 200, roughly 9-11 miles east of Bonner near the Whitaker Bridge fishing access site, where two cliff formations rise on the river's south side just upstream of the bridge. Reaching either requires swimming or floating across the current; the larger formation is harder to reach and demands launching well outward to clear shallow water and submerged rock near its base. Water levels and flow drop significantly by late summer, exposing hazards hidden earlier in the season, so avoid jumping once the river runs low. There is no parking lot at the cliffs themselves; access is informal, via the BLM corridor road and riverbank.
Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
