About this spot

From the North Shore, head south along the eastern shoreline past Sand Harbor until you spot a parking area on your right. Walk down the dirt path heading southward, staying on the main road surface and avoiding any offshoots that lead to residential areas or narrow trails. The walk takes roughly half an hour at a moderate pace. Continue until you reach the stairway descending to Whale Beach. The location offers multiple jumping options ranging from five to twenty feet in height, with the largest jump being twenty feet. The area doubles as an excellent swimming destination. An underwater passage is present, so consider bringing a mask. Access via Highway 50 to Tahoe, then proceed along the western shoreline, passing Emerald Bay, and turn toward the D.L. Bliss exit for straightforward navigation from there.

Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
