About this spot

Welton Falls drops about 30 feet into a deep, mossy gorge in Welton Falls State Forest, Alexandria, NH. Most visitors start at the AMC Cardigan Lodge and follow the Lower Manning Trail roughly 4 miles round trip along Clark Brook, crossing the brook four times (one crossing can be knee-deep); expect mud and bugs in summer. The gorge holds several ledges used for jumping and diving, rated locally as challenging due to depth-checking difficulty and slippery, mossy rock. No fees; the forest is state land with no gates, but access is remote and cell service is poor, so plan for a real hike in and out.

Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
