About this spot

A flooded granite quarry (worked 1867-1908) that's now Mason's local swimming hole, with jumps in the 30-50 ft range off the old quarry walls. Fair warning from the community: it's only good for jumping, and access is genuinely restricted — the quarry is town-owned, managed by the Conservation Commission, and open to Mason residents and their guests only. Parking at the Scripps Lane cul-de-sac (the closest access, via the Mason Railroad Trail) requires a town recreation tag from the Town Clerk or Mason PD, and the lot is monitored. If you're not with a resident, this one isn't for you — the town closed access once before over out-of-town crowds.

Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
