About this spot
Wintergreen Park in the village of Canajoharie is a free municipal park built around the Canajoharie Creek gorge. From the upper lot, a 0.75-mile Scenic Trail leads to a deck overlooking 40-foot Wintergreen (Canajoharie) Falls; a shorter path from the lower lot reaches a popular creekside swimming hole. No entrance fee. Hazards: the shale and limestone gorge sheds loose rock, storms can flash-flood the creek quickly, and jumping from the falls roughly 45-foot top has caused serious injuries that local signage warns against. The lower lot has picnic areas, ballfields, and restrooms.
Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
