About this spot

From I-90, take exit 29 (located midway between Utica and Schenectady). After the toll booth, turn left onto NY 5s East, then take the first right onto Cunningham Road and proceed uphill. Continue ascending while bypassing dead-end branches until reaching a stop sign, then head generally southward onto Carlisle Road. Where Carlisle curves sharply left, Old Sharon Road continues straight ahead near a visible baseball field to the right. The entrance to Wintergreen Park is shortly beyond at the ballfield. Law enforcement focuses on traffic violations, underage drinking, and glass containers, so observe speed limits, complete stops, and seatbelt use. Drive to the park's lowest level near the water and walk along the creek toward the falls, approximately three-quarters of a mile away. Multiple swimming holes of different sizes, picnic facilities, and grills dot the route on a first-come, first-served basis. IMPORTANT: No swimming, wading, or bathing is permitted in Canajoharie Creek. Signs at Wintergreen Park prohibit these activities and violations will result in arrest. Access for water activities is not allowed.

Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
