About this spot
This upstate New York location features a small rocky cove on the lake's eastern shore. The inlet's geography creates a U-shape, narrowing toward the water at its mouth while reaching its greatest height at the rear, which is where jumpers launch. Multiple jump options exist throughout the formation, with heights spanning from 5 feet to approximately 50 feet at the back section. The water reaches 160 feet in depth, eliminating any risk of striking the bottom. Access can be achieved via boat or on foot. Boaters can launch from Lake George village or Dunham's Bay, then travel several miles along the east shore until the location becomes visible. Hiking requires starting from Lake George village and taking Route 9L toward Dunham's Bay, then turning left onto Pilot Knob Road. Follow this road to its terminus at the Fort Ann town beach. Beyond this point lies private residential property, so parking must occur at the beach. From there, walk the road and turn right at the first opportunity. Continue to where the road ends at a house and transitions into forest. A woodland trail provides easier passage through this section. Staying near the shoreline ensures the cliffs remain in view and prevents getting lost inland. The hike from the vehicle takes approximately 30 to 35 minutes.
