About this spot
From Interstate 87, take exit 30 toward Lake Placid and Keene. Follow Route 73 until connecting to Route 9N heading toward Upper Jay (avoid the Elizabethtown option on 9N). Continue on 9N until reaching Route 86 near Upper Jay, then turn left. Stay on Route 86 as it passes through Wilmington and turns left after crossing a bridge over the Ausable River. Follow this turn, proceed past shops, and continue to the bridge. Parking is available on the right side near the bridge or on the left side just before it, with the river positioned on your left. Two primary jumping areas exist at this location. The first spans the water directly adjacent to the waterfall. The second is roadside-accessed, though only the initial 10 feet of the cliff face is safe for jumping at this spot. Submerged rocks present hazards at other roadside sections, so consult local knowledge before attempting unfamiliar areas. A third jumping location may be accessible further upstream from the waterfall, situated within the chasm before reaching the bridge, though this requires local guidance to locate safely.
