About this spot

This cliff jumping location is situated in Bear Mountain State Park near Fort Montgomery, NY, roughly 5 minutes from the Bear Mountain Bridge in Orange County. Access requires taking the NYS Thruway to the Palisades Parkway toward the Bear Mountain Bridge. Before reaching the bridge, enter the roundabout and turn right following signs toward West Point and Newburgh. Cross a bridge spanning a river, then turn left onto Firefighter Memorial Drive. Make your next left turn onto McCoy Road, where approximately 4 parking spaces are available on the right. From the parking area, hike uphill about 200 yards until the road curves right; continue straight to locate a trailhead. The trail walk takes less than 5 minutes to reach the jumping area. Six distinct ledges allow jumps of 6, 15, 20, 40, 50, and 70 feet.

Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
