About this spot
Inside Robert H. Treman State Park off NY-13 near Ithaca/Enfield, this is the park's designated swimming hole beneath the 40-50 ft Lower Falls. A short, flat path from the main lot leads to a sandy beach, bathhouse, and diving platform; a state day-use fee applies in season. Swimmers jump from streamside rocks and the platform into the deep plunge pool, with lifeguards on duty daily late May through Labor Day — swimming outside lifeguarded hours is discouraged. Water stays cold (60-70°F) year-round and flow can surge fast after rain upstream, so check conditions first. Rocks near the falls turn slick; use marked entry points and never dive headfirst into unfamiliar depths.
Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
