About this spot
A roughly 40-foot plunge from a steep, nearly vertical rock face. Located within Adirondack Park and accessible via an established hiking trail. The cliff overlooks Rock Pond on its northern side. To reach it: Exit 28 off Route 87 (the Northway), then east on Route 74 toward Ticonderoga for approximately 8 miles. Turn south on Route 39 for about 7 miles to Putnam Pond Campground. Park there and take the northbound path through the campground. Connect to the hiking trail along Putnam Pond's northern shore and continue toward Rock Pond. The jump site sits approximately one-third of the way along Rock Pond's length from east to west. To reach the cliff edge, leave the main trail and head south roughly 20 yards into the forest. The target water is Rock Pond itself. After jumping, swimmers must traverse east across the pond toward the far shore where an old mine structure sits—this serves as the exit point. An abandoned mine site marks the eastern end of Rock Pond and is visible from the trail.
