About this spot
A 20-foot slide-style waterfall on Pond Creek, reached by a short but rocky and steep spur (about 0.8-1.2 miles round trip) off the Lower Pond Creek Trail from Lake Coffey on Beech Mountain, Watauga County. Documented by multiple independent sources (HikingWNC, Waterfall Hero, and the Beech Mountain visitor center) as a real, named feature along a trout stream with several smaller cascades above and below it; one stretch requires a rope to pass a slippery rock face. No source describes an established swimming or jumping tradition, and the trail has had storm-related closures, so check current status before visiting. Water volume is seasonal and can be low outside wet periods.
Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
