About this spot

Indian Creek Falls is a well-known ~25ft wide sandstone cascade at the Deep Creek entrance to Great Smoky Mountains National Park near Bryson City, reached by an easy, family-friendly 1.9mi round-trip loop from the free Deep Creek trailhead (shared with the popular Deep Creek tubing run). It empties into a large plunge pool that draws wading and swimming crowds all summer, but the Park Service and local guides caution against real swimming here — submerged rocks and current are stronger than they look, and there's no sanctioned jumping platform. No fees, no permits, day-use only; conditions worsen fast after rain when the creek surges.

Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
