About this spot
Silver Run Falls is a well-loved swimming hole in Nantahala National Forest, reached by a flat, five-minute, 0.2-mile trail from a roadside pull-off four miles south of Cashiers on NC-107 (parking for only 4-5 cars, so arrive early). The falls drop about 25 feet into a clear plunge pool with a small sandy beach; water is shallow near the edges and roughly 15 feet deep at the base, drawing families and swimmers of all levels all summer. Some visitors jump from a ledge beside the falls, but rocks are slick and pool depth shifts with rainfall, so check current conditions before jumping. No fee or permit; USFS land, no lifeguard, and the small lot fills fast on hot weekends.
Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
