About this spot

Hunt Fish Falls (also called Huntfish Falls) is a two-tiered, roughly 10-foot waterfall on Lost Cove Creek in the Wilson Creek area of Pisgah National Forest, fed additionally by a 50-foot tributary drop called Hunt Fish Sidekick Falls. A short, moderately steep 1.4-1.6 mile round-trip hike from an unpaved Pineola Road trailhead leads to a large, clear pool at the base that's one of the most popular swimming holes in the Wilson Creek watershed, with open bedrock slabs for sunbathing and several primitive campsites nearby. Multiple stream crossings on slick rocks are the main hazard getting in; water is cold even in summer. Access road is gravel but generally passable. Best March-November.
