About this spot
Licklog Branch Falls is a roughly 75-80 foot cascade in Pisgah National Forest outside Old Fort, reached via a 1.7-mile out-and-back creekwalk from a pullout on Curtis Creek Road. The moderate-plus hike crosses the creek repeatedly and follows the river-right bank where it opens up, ending at a plunge pool where hikers wade and swim. The main hazard is the approach itself: wet, mossy rocks and slick creek crossings make footing treacherous, especially after rain, and the falls sees little traffic, so help is far away if you slip. No documented cliff-jumping culture here — it's a wading and swimming spot on public national forest land, not a diving destination. Solitude is part of the draw.
Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
