About this spot
Stairstep Falls is a real, roughly 30-foot waterfall in the Green River Game Lands near Saluda, reached via a dedicated Conserving Carolina trail loop. Kevin Adams' waterfall guide calls it a minor, low-flow cascade, and trail stewards specifically discourage scrambling to the base to prevent erosion and social-trail creation, so documented swim or jump activity is thin to nonexistent. Access is public game land; the main hazard is unstable footing/erosion near the drop, not water depth or jump height.
Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
