About this spot
Upper Buff Creek Falls is a roughly 65-ft waterfall in Nantahala National Forest near Sylva, reached via a difficult ~1.6-mile round trip off Buff Creek Road that requires boulder-scrambling over rough terrain. Trail reports rate it difficult-plus and focus on the scenic view; no swimming-hole or cliff-jumping culture is documented at either the upper or lower falls.
Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
