About this spot

From Cambridge, take Interstate 77 east to State Route 40, then drive approximately 3 miles. Turn right onto State Route 265 for roughly half a mile, then turn right again onto Reservoir Road. After driving 1 to 1.5 miles, you'll encounter a "no parking" sign on the right side—parking there results in a $100 fine. Continue another quarter to half mile and turn left to park on the abandoned railroad tracks. Walk back toward the no parking sign where a dirt trail enters the woods on the right. The first site features two rope swings. The right-side swing is the better option; you'll need a long stick to access it. Use the smaller tree and ropes attached to it to descend the hill to a larger tree, then use your stick to retrieve the rope and climb back up. The second location is known as the "root jump." Sprint down the small trail and launch approximately 6 to 8 feet out to reach the water—be careful not to trip. The third site contains three distinct jump options: one positioned on a small rise to the right, a middle jump angled slightly right, and a third that requires running and jumping while clearing vegetation beneath the small cliff face. Jumps range from 12 to 15 feet, while the rope swing measures about 15 to 18 feet. This location suits newcomers and those seeking to relax, fish, or swim. The area has served as a popular gathering spot for over two decades, so please help preserve it.

Safety first. Cliff jumping is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Conditions — water depth, submerged hazards, and access — change constantly. CliffScout is community-sourced reference information, not a guarantee a spot is safe. Always assess the conditions yourself before jumping, and never jump where you're unsure. You assume all risk.
